Type Locality "Australasia or New Holland"
Holotype Not designated; BMNH 1947.3.5.86 presumed to be the holotype by Cogger et al. 1983:61 since it was the specimen Shaw 1802:62 used to redescribe the species.

Common name Common snake-necked Turtle
Distribution Southeastern South Australia to eastern Queensland, Australia
Comments Includes Chelodina sulcifera according to Mertens (1972) and Rautert (1982). Reviewed by Cogger et al. (1983).
