	Distribution	Southern Canada to Ecuador
	Comments	Gaffney (1975) and Gaffney and Meylan (1988) included the Platysternidae within the Chelydridae; however, Whetstone (1978) argued for their separation. Frair (1982c) reported a great difference between chelydrid and platysternid electrophoretic patterns.
