- Reviewed by Cogger et al. (1983). Some populations in isolated basins in New South Wales may deserve species recognition, according to John Legler (pers. comm.). Wells and Wellington (1985:12) named the northeastern New South Wales populations as Elseya purvisi, but without diagnosis or adequate description.
