- Geochelone travancorica Boulenger (1907:560) is considered to be a synonym according to Hoogmoed and Crumly (1984). Reviewed by Groombridge (1982; as Geochelone travancorica and G. forstenii), Tikader and Sharma (1985; as Geochelone travancorica), Moll (in Swingland and Klemens, 1989), and Das (1991).
